I know you would find it funny and not believe to what I say but this is true that finally we would be able to taste and smell TV, Movies and Games while we watch them in the same way we hear and feel them. It would be possible with the help of one device – SMELL-O-VISION.
‘Smell-O-Vision’ is a plug-in device for computer games and TV that emits a variety of odors, depending on the scenario. It is called ScentScape as well
It’s like, if your character is crawling around the jungle, it whiffs out the unmistakable smell of pine. Should you find yourself at sea, the smell of the water will be instantly delivered by the ‘personal scent delivery system’. Made by Scent Sciences Corporation, the ScentScape is described as “an innovative digital scent delivery system.”
How to use:
- Simply plug the device into a USB port on your computer.
- It should be plugged in with a supported Game,
- The appropriate Scent is released time to time.
The ScentScape has around 20 pre-loaded smells and is programmed to respond to exactly what is happening on screen but its makers hope that the in-built editing application will allow gamers to make their own scents and share them with other users. The $69.99 device from California-based Scent Sciences has a ‘volume control‘ feature to ensure you are not overwhelmed by the fumes.
ScentScape is primed to launch in time for Christmas, with refills at $24 each. Scent Sciences is currently bursting with ideas for product development and plans to have a next-degeneration version of the device on the shelves within a year. Each cartridge will last 200 hours or more “in heavy use,” with the ability to alter the strength of the smell. Though it’s only been shown on PC, it’s said that it will be “compatible with all major formats.” Additional ‘smell cartridges’ such as holiday and summer means it will also be possible to add smells to home videos. Other cartridges could be created for aromatherapy and other applications.
Well, I cant wait to smell my game anymore now. Can you????
Happy Gaming 🙂
