Ipad 2 is on the door…..what to do with the old one ?????
And then the next question was, what to do with the Ipad 2 when Ipad 3 comes in??
And if I am not wrong, we all or people like me will dream of latest and fashionable Ipad to catch up with the current world in best possible way whenever a new Ipad is announced.
So I start thinking how I can get the new one without paying full price.
One way is to sell my old iPad. This gives me some extra cash that I can put towards the new one.
Selling the old one for maximum profit!!
Ipad2 has got everything you ever wanted in an iDevice. You look at the current one sitting there on the table and wonder if you should keep it and have two of them, or if you should sell yours to get the latest and greatest when it goes on sale. If you do decide to sell it, here’s what you can do to make it a painless and enjoyable experience:
- Search for a Retailer/Buyer
There are few options you can choose to sell your old iPad for cash. Ebay and Craigslist. With Craigslist, you can make an immediate sale that is local to you and you don’t have to pay shipping costs or give over a small percentage of your sale in order to use the service. On the other hand, with Ebay, you do get far more exposure. But there are a few other options as well. For example, there is NextWorth. This a great place that recycles old electronics for cashIf you do not want to do any of those things, you can always opt for Random Local Retailers (yes, they are still in business) trade-in program. This appears to bring in the least amount of value but it’s an option if all you want to do is walk into the store and trade it in for a gift card towards your next one.The value you can get from selling your old iPad is highest with Craigslist given there are no fees for services or shipping (if you sell local). Then comes Ebay and finally NextWorth and Local Retailers.
Ok. So you picked a retailer and it’s time to move on to getting your old iPad ready for resale. This is important so read on….
- Dress your iPad Ready For Resale
For sure, you kept all your beautiful Apple packaging when you bough your iPad, but if not that’s OK depending on the retailer you choose. I will say that,it really helps the buyer to make a quick decision and give the maximum price when you have all the original packaging.
Here is how to do that:
If you happen to have an activated 3G iPad and you don’t plan on using 3G with your new iPad, then make sure you cancel your services with AT&T. Here’s how to do this on the iPad:
- Tap Settings
- Tap Cellular Data
- Tap View Account and log in
- From here you can cancel your 3G services
When you reset your iPad back to factory settings the micro SIM will be reset as well so even if you still have your 3G service since you plan to use it later, the new owner will have to sign up with AT&T. Make sure you check with AT&T, however, just to be sure.
One of the most important things you want to do before you sell your old iPad is to back it up. Here’s how to backup your iPad. Once you are all done backing up your iPad in iTunes, click the “Restore” button and it will prompt you once again to backup but that’s OK. Continue on to restore your iPad to factory settings. Now you have a backup and all your personal data is erased.
Check to make sure the audio jack works and that you have the proper charging cables with the proper charger. Clean these too. Do a final check to make sure all of the buttons work and the Home button is fully functional.
Make your Ipad shine now..clean and clear. The best way to make it look like brand new is to use iKlear Apple Polish. This works wonders on your screen and aluminum backing. It can also be used for all your other Apple products so it’s handy to have.
You are almost ready to sell your iPad but the buyer expects it to either arrives safely (if you are shipping it) or look nice and presentable. If you have the original Apple packaging that’s perfect. Put everything back into the box as best as you can and then seal it up. Just make sure everything is packed neatly and secured by plenty of “drop resistant” cushioning.
- Avoiding The Unfortunate!
It’s unfortunate but a fact of life that scams exist. Be aware of potential pitfalls.
Try to avoid any transactions that involve money orders or wire transfers. Opt for a buyer that can do a more secure form of payment like a credit card. If you are using Craigslist, try to avoid inquires from outside your local area. These are most likely scams and if you want to sell it that way, then choose Ebay and always check the buyers’ history and feedback if they have any.
And You are done!! Yes, you just sold your old and valuable Ipad for cash! Hurry up…New Ipad arrival will surely drop the price of your old one. So make a wise decision and get the maximum money out of it.
